Exploring the casualties of the "War for Talent"

Dear Mr Chairman,

The same people that sold us on converting to workism, now sell that we'll have free time to explore meaningful things in your life due to technology advances.

This is the real tragedy/crime not talked about enough.

The final years of the ZIRP era [inc Covid times], while not a perfect comp, have shown us the real dangers of this type of magical thinking: frivolous spending of time, money and attention.

We have a spike in anti-depressants use in young [female] adults & adolescents, growing isolation & loneliness with the elderly. Alarming male suicide rates.

What will happen to millions of people when they have nothing but time to sit with their own mind, [past] choices and see all the lost opportunities at meaningful lives outside of work, because work was suppose to save them, complete them?

The people who moved away from friends & family, who sacrificed weekends & evenings, got "work husbands/wives" instead of real ones?

The hustlers, girl-bosses and grinders?

Who got home to kiss sleeping kids goodnight?

Whose "quality time" was the morning ride to drop the kids off?

If lucky enough to have a family to neglect.

Who wouldn't have a crises of faith?

Who wouldn't question every social contract signed?

So who could blame more and more people for viewing work & career like prisoners view jailtime: "only two days exist, the day you get in and the day you get out. In between keep you head low, mind your business and pass the time".
